This is so true; I always tell my authors that they need to just write through first draft no matter how intense the feeling to self edit! I myself am a combo of plotter/pantser, so I struggle with this as well in my own writing. Also, I love that you include success stories from your subscribers in posts! What a great idea.
Love this. And you know what's so interesting about all this? (And what I've finally learned is that as you say, there is no right moment to start writing--honestly, to start anything.) I used to think that I needed to lose weight BEFORE I went to the gym. (That's a noggin twister.) I finally understand that for me, it wasn't really about procrastination--it was embarrassment. Like--yes I know--the "shitty first draft" thing--but certainly, no one has written as shitty a first draft as I have--or clearly no one looks as bad in their leggings as I do...etc. etc. etc.
After finally getting to a draft of my novel that I'm proud of--I can see that if you push all those "not enough" emotions to one side and just dig in--and if you are fortunate enough to work with a skilled editor (as I have been, and your clients have been) who helps you see that there is a diamond under all that first draft rough--AND if you stick with it...you can eventually create someone that feels...well...like...Enough.
As someone who also always thinks she needs to be in better shape before she starts working out - how?! - I so appreciate you sharing this! And I am so glad you're pushing past not enough and finding...MORE THAN ENOUGH!!

Yes! Just try to ignore all the feelings and push through. Feelings can come out during the editing process.
Jenny what a wonderful gift your husband gave you. Im sorry for your loss and grief and applaud you for taking it and making it beautiful.
Oh no! Jenny’s story sounds so sad yet hopeful. Thanks for sharing. 🥰
Yay! Love this! 🥳🫶🏻

How do you know when the editing is done?
